Who we are
lads.ie is an independent Irish publication. Contact: contact form.
What we collect
Analytics. We use Matomo, a privacy-focused self-hosted analytics tool on our own infrastructure at mana.ie/stats. No data is sent to Google or other third parties. Matomo cookies are explained on our cookies page. Matomo honours "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control browser signals, which means most readers are never recorded at all.
Contact form data. If you use the contact form, tip line, or newsletter signup, we collect: whatever you type into the form, plus your IP address and the date/time of submission (spam prevention). That data is stored for up to 24 months and then deleted, unless you've explicitly subscribed to the newsletter, in which case we keep your email until you unsubscribe.
Newsletter. If you subscribe to the weekly digest, we store your email and a subscription date. You can unsubscribe with one click at the bottom of any issue, and your email is deleted from our list within seven days of unsubscribing.
What we do not collect
We don't run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, ad retargeting, or tracking from any third-party ad network on this site. We don't profile readers, we don't build cross-site behavioural profiles, and we don't share data with data brokers.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection regarding your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us via the contact form. We respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you believe we've handled your data improperly, you have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission — dataprotection.ie.
Changes
We update this policy when our practices change. Material changes are noted at the top of this page with the date of change.
